Highlights of the event? | Swimming in the 200m Semifinal. It was the fastest semifinal and final in the history of the 200m freestyle event so to finish 10th in the world isn’t so bad… |
Lessons learned from the event? | Sometimes things don’t go according to plan and its important to move on from disappointments and do everything you can to put it behind you and focus on the next race…although that is easier said than done! |
General observations and vibe of the meet? | Russia is very passionate about their swimming and they have some amazing swimmers so there was great support from the crowd which is always great to see and experience |
What / who motivated you throughout the champs? | Just to swim against the best in the world and representing your country is amazing so you always want to do your best. It was great to race the world’s best swimmers |

Highlights of the event? | I really enjoyed swimming some different events for a change so it was fun to see how I would do. My times were pretty solid so I had a good week of racing. |
Lessons learned from the event? | Always have fun when racing. That doesn’t necessarily mean take it easy but still race hard and swim fast but enjoy the competition. There was a great vibe with the South African team which made the racing a lot more exciting and enjoyable. |
General observations and vibe of the meet? | There was a pretty good vibe during the meet especially between the South African team, it was a fairly young team and everyone seemed to have a good time and the support within the team was great which is really exciting to see. |
What / who motivated you throughout the champs? | Its always an honor to win a medal for your country and to win one at the African Games and being crowned African champion is something special so I think trying to win medals for your country is motivation enough. |
